Flame Retardants for EPS and XPS Insulation Foam
Sodium Bromide (NaBr) in Oilfield Applications
What is calcium bromide brine?
Calcium bromide, CaBr2, CAS 7789-41-5, is supplied as a solid or as a clear brine. In oilfield work it provides a solids-free, high-density fluid for completion and packer applications, protecting the formation from damage.
Density range
A pure CaBr2 brine reaches about 1.70 g/cm3 (14.2 ppg). Blended with calcium chloride it covers the lower range, and with zinc bromide it extends above 2.3 g/cm3 for high-pressure wells.
Why solids-free matters
Because it carries no suspended solids, a clear brine will not plug the pay zone. This preserves permeability and productivity compared with weighted muds.
