Personal protection
Bromide brines, especially zinc bromide blends, are irritating and acidic. Use chemical goggles, gloves and appropriate clothing, and provide eyewash and wash facilities.
Materials and tanks
Store in compatible materials; avoid aluminium and unprotected mild steel with aggressive brines. Keep tanks labelled and closed to prevent contamination and dilution.
Crystallisation and spills
Monitor the true crystallisation temperature so brine does not solidify in cold conditions. Contain spills, as brines are dense and spread; neutralise and dispose per local regulation.
