Sodium Bromide (NaBr)

Product Description

Sodium Bromide (NaBr) powder is a single salt used to form clear- brine work-over and completion fluids. These fluids are used where formation pressures require densities from 8.4 to 12.8 1b/gal (1,007 to 1,534 kg/m) or where the formation waters contain high concentrations of bicarbonate and sulfate ions. NaBr can be mixed with NaCl to obtain densities up to 12.8 1b/gal (1,534 kg/m). NaBrl NaCI systems are more economical than pure NaBr solutions

Applications

The photosensitive industry is used to prepare film photosensitive solution, diuretics and sedatives in medicine, synthetic perfume in perfume industry and brominating agent in printing and dyeing industry. In addition, it is also used in organic synthesis and other aspects: Micro Determination of cadmium, production of bromide; inorganic and organic synthesis; photographic paper. Pharmaceutical industry as diuretics and sedatives, in the treatment of neurasthenia, nervous insomnia, mental excitement and so on. It is used to prepare photosensitive solution for photographic film, diuretic and sedative in pharmaceutical industry. It is also used in synthetic perfume, medicine and dyestuff industry. It is also used to prepare detergent for automatic dishwasher.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sodium Bromide Powder?
Sodium Bromide Powder is a soluble bromide salt used mainly to build oilfield completion and workover fluids.
What is the CAS number and formula of Sodium Bromide Powder?
Sodium Bromide Powder has the CAS number 7647-15-6 and the chemical formula NaBr.
What is Sodium Bromide Powder used for?
Sodium Bromide Powder is used for making clear (solids-free) completion, workover and packer fluids for oil & gas wells; also a biocide precursor in water treatment and a chemical/pharma intermediate.
How does Sodium Bromide Powder work?
Dissolved in water it raises the density of a clear (solids-free) brine, providing hydrostatic pressure to control the well without damaging the formation. It also serves as a biocide precursor in water treatment.
What fluid density can Sodium Bromide Powder achieve?
Clear brines up to roughly 12.5 lb/gal (~1.5 sg); it is often blended with calcium bromide or calcium chloride for higher-density systems.
Is Sodium Bromide Powder brominated or halogen-free / is it regulatory compliant?
Supplied to oilfield/industrial grade. Sodium bromide is hygroscopic; store dry. SDS and specifications available on request.
What is the typical dosage or concentration of Sodium Bromide Powder?
Concentration is adjusted on site to reach the required fluid density and crystallisation temperature.
How should Sodium Bromide Powder be stored and handled?
Keep in sealed, moisture-proof packaging in a dry area, as it is hygroscopic; keep away from acids and incompatible materials. Refer to the SDS for full handling guidance.
What packaging and minimum order quantity does Haiwang offer for Sodium Bromide Powder?
Sodium Bromide Powder is supplied in bulk, typically as moisture-proof 25 kg bags or 1000 kg jumbo bags on pallets. Shandong Haiwang Chemical accommodates flexible MOQs for trial and full container-load orders – contact us for current options.
Is Haiwang a manufacturer, and can it export Sodium Bromide Powder?
Yes. Shandong Haiwang Chemical is a manufacturer (not a trader) and exports Sodium Bromide Powder worldwide. Technical data sheets, COA and samples are available on request; contact the sales team for a quotation and lead time.
What does Sodium Bromide Powder look like?
Sodium Bromide Powder is supplied as a white crystalline powder/granule.
What is the purity or specification of Sodium Bromide Powder?
Typical specification: ≥98% NaBr. A Certificate of Analysis is provided with each shipment.
Is Sodium Bromide Powder soluble in water?
Sodium Bromide Powder is highly soluble in water.
Does Sodium Bromide Powder have crystallization temperature (TCT) considerations?
Yes — as a clear brine, Sodium Bromide Powder’s true crystallization temperature depends on its concentration and density. Haiwang can recommend the right formulation, and blends where needed, to control TCT for your well conditions.
What is the shelf life of Sodium Bromide Powder?
Kept sealed and dry, Sodium Bromide Powder has a long shelf life of 2+ years; as it is hygroscopic, protect it from moisture.
What safety precautions are needed when handling Sodium Bromide Powder?
Bromide and chloride brines can irritate skin and eyes — wear PPE, avoid contact, and follow the SDS.
Which synergist or co-additives are recommended with Sodium Bromide Powder?
Sodium Bromide Powder is typically used with calcium bromide or calcium chloride for higher-density systems.
What are the advantages of Sodium Bromide Powder over alternatives?
Sodium Bromide Powder is forms a clear, solids-free brine that avoids formation damage in the well.
What certifications and documents can Haiwang provide for Sodium Bromide Powder?
Shandong Haiwang Chemical can provide REACH and RoHS documentation, third-party SGS test reports, a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and manufactures under an ISO 9001 quality system.
What are the lead time, shipping and payment terms for Sodium Bromide Powder?
Samples of Sodium Bromide Powder are usually available within a few days, and bulk lead time is typically 1–2 weeks depending on volume. Haiwang exports worldwide (FOB China ports, or CIF and other Incoterms on request) with flexible terms such as T/T or L/C — contact the sales team for a quotation, HS code and current lead time.
