Flame Retardants for Wire and Cable Compounds
FR-245 Flame Retardant: A Guide for Styrenics
What is BT-93W?
BT-93W, ethylene bis-tetrabromophthalimide, CAS 32588-76-4, is an additive flame retardant with about 67% bromine and outstanding thermal and UV stability. The W grade is micronised for better dispersion and colour.
Where it is used
BT-93W suits engineering thermoplastics processed at high temperature, including PBT, PA, PP and TPE, as well as applications needing excellent light stability such as outdoor parts.
Advantages
Its high decomposition temperature (above 400 C) and low blooming make it ideal where long-term appearance and heat resistance matter. It is paired with antimony trioxide like other brominated additives.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the CAS number of BT-93W?
BT-93W, ethylene bis-tetrabromophthalimide, has CAS number 32588-76-4.
Why choose BT-93W over DBDPE?
BT-93W offers higher thermal stability and better UV and blooming resistance, making it preferred for high-temperature engineering plastics and outdoor parts.
